Community and upload terms

1. What these terms cover

These terms apply to everything you post in Yedeni: recipes with title, ingredients, steps, photos and videos; ratings; collections; profile picture, display name and profile text; reports; and messages to the AI coach where they feed into shared content. They form part of the Terms of Service.

2. Rights in what you upload

You may only upload content if at least one of the following is true:

• You created it yourself — you took the photo, shot the video, wrote the text.
• You have explicit permission from every rights holder to publish it in Yedeni.
• It is under a licence that permits this use, and you provide the required attribution.

A recipe as such — the bare sequence of ingredients and steps — is generally not protected by copyright. The individually written surrounding text, the photos and the videos almost always are. So you may cook someone's recipe and post it here in your own words with your own pictures; you may not take their text and images.

If other people are identifiable in your photos or videos, you need their consent. For children you need the consent of their legal guardians.

Watch out for trade marks too: you may use protected product names descriptively ("with Nutella"), but not in a way that suggests a connection with the brand owner.

3. What you allow us to do

By uploading you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right to store, technically adapt and display the content as part of operating Yedeni. Your copyright stays with you. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train AI models. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account — details in § 4 of the Terms.

4. Content rules

4.1 Describe food honestly

• Ingredients and amounts must match what is actually in the recipe.
• Do not invent nutrition values and do not make them look better than they are.
• State allergens where you know them. Other people rely on that.
• Photos must show the dish in question — no unrelated dish as bait.

4.2 No health promises

Yedeni is not a medical device and not dietary counselling. The following are therefore not permitted:

• Claims that a recipe or food cures, alleviates or prevents disease
• Disease-related claims within the meaning of the Health Claims Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006
• Instructions for extreme diets, zero-calorie diets, unsupervised fasting or detox cures
• Content that trivialises, glorifies or instructs in eating disorders — including competitions over minimal calorie intake, weight or body comparisons and associated hashtags
• Supplement dosage recommendations above the amounts generally considered safe for the wider population

4.3 Prohibited content

Content is not permitted if it

• violates applicable law
• incites violence, hatred or discrimination, or demeans people on grounds of origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or age
• harasses, threatens, exposes or targets others
• shows sexual content or nudity
• uses unconstitutional symbols or disseminates terrorist content
• discloses third parties' personal data without their consent
• impersonates another person or our company
• contains advertising, chain letters, bulk messages or redirects to commercial offers without our agreement
• contains malware, malicious code or fraudulent links
• was evidently generated automatically in bulk without substantive value
• manipulates ratings — for example bought, traded or multi-account reviews

4.4 Alcohol and adult topics

Recipes containing alcohol are permitted but must be recognisable as such. Because Yedeni is usable from age 16, content encouraging excessive alcohol consumption is not permitted. Tobacco, cannabis and other controlled substances are not permitted as ingredients.

4.5 AI-generated content

You may use AI tools to create content. If you do: say in the description when an image or video was generated with AI, check the content for accuracy before publishing, and do not pass AI-generated images off as your own photos of a dish you actually cooked. The app does not label your content automatically.

5. How we review

We are under no general obligation to monitor content. Recipes from accounts without the “verified” badge (no. 8a) and recipes we have not approved are nonetheless looked at voluntarily by a person on our team before they go public (no. 5.2). Everything else — the other recipes from verified accounts, ratings, collections and profile details — becomes visible as soon as you publish it; we do not review it in advance. In addition, we review:

• on occasion, when a report reaches us or we come across a possible violation ourselves — the review is always carried out by a person on our team
• automatically when a username is created — against a list of impermissible and reserved terms; such a name cannot be saved
• automatically after reports — once three different accounts have reported a recipe, we hide it provisionally until a person has reviewed the reports; if the recipe is fine, it becomes visible again

Beyond that no automated system decides about content or accounts: approving a submitted recipe, removing content, permanently restricting its visibility and any suspension are always decided by a person.

5.1 Ratings

A rating consists of one to five stars; we do not accept text or photos with ratings. Any signed-in account can rate a recipe once, but not its own recipe; you can delete your own rating at any time and then rate the recipe again. We do not check whether the person has cooked it; a tick on a rating only shows that the account logged the recipe in its diary beforehand. Whoever created the recipe can thank someone for a rating; the thanks is shown on the rating and changes neither the rating nor the average. We only hide ratings that break these terms — never because a rating is low; hidden ratings do not count towards the average.

5.2 Review before publication

If you tap “Publish” from an account without the “verified” badge, the recipe goes to our team first and shows as “In review” in the “Videos in review” folder on your profile. Until we decide, only you and the reviewing people on our team can see it — it does not appear in the feed, in search, on your public profile or in any collection. Accounts with the “verified” badge and our own accounts publish without this review — except a recipe we have not approved.

• Approval: If the reviewing person notices no breach of these terms or of applicable law, they approve the recipe. It is then visible to everyone, and we notify you. Approval confirms neither your details and nutrition values nor that you hold the necessary rights; you remain responsible for that (no. 2 and § 4(2) of the Terms).
• Not approved: If the recipe breaches these terms or applicable law, we do not publish it. If we take an already published recipe out of public view because of a breach, it is likewise not approved. You then see the recipe in the “Videos in review” folder as “Not approved” with our reasons and receive an email setting out the rule breached and how you can challenge the decision (no. 6). You can revise the recipe and submit it again; a recipe that was not approved then always goes to our team first, also from accounts with the “verified” badge.
• Changes requested: Instead of deciding, our team can write to you and ask for changes. A recipe in review then goes back to you as a draft marked “Changes requested”; this does not mean it was not approved. You can revise it and submit it again; if you resubmit it unchanged, we decide whether to approve it or not. On a published recipe the message is only a note; the recipe stays online. If the reason is a breach of these terms, the message names the rule concerned, and you can challenge it like any other measure (no. 6).
• Suggestion from our team: Our team can revise your recipe — in review or published — in a copy that is not public, for example the title, description, photos, video, ingredients, amounts or steps, and suggest that version to you with a message. You see the suggested version in full before you decide. If you accept it, it replaces your version and appears under your name as your recipe; a recipe in review is thereby approved and goes public at once, a published one stays online. If you decline, a published recipe stays online unchanged; a recipe in review goes back to our team in your version, and we decide whether to approve it or not. Until you decide, a recipe in review stays unpublished. What our team contributes remains our content: you may use and edit it in this recipe in Yedeni, and we are responsible for it as for our own content, including the rights to it; for the rest of the recipe you remain responsible (no. 2 and § 4(2) of the Terms). We delete the copy once you have decided, when we withdraw the suggestion, or when you delete the recipe or your account.
• Classification and data: Without asking you, our team changes only the classification and data of your recipes — for example categories, cuisine, difficulty, times, nutrition values, allergens, dietary labels, weights, the link of an ingredient to our food database, the crop of the cover image and translations. What you wrote or created — title, description, tips, photos, video, ingredients and amounts, steps and servings — we change only with your consent, through a suggestion (§ 4(3) of the Terms).
• Automatic pre-check: On submission, an AI model reads the text of the recipe — title, description, ingredients, steps and nutrition values — for possible breaches and implausible details, another AI model checks the cover image and the other photos of the recipe for sexual content, violence and self-harm, and a program checks whether details are missing. The pre-check does not see the video or the photos and videos of individual steps. Only the reviewing person sees its hints; the pre-check approves nothing and rejects nothing.
• Second review: If, from an account without the “verified” badge, you change the video, the cover image, the other photos, photos or videos of the steps, the title or the description of an approved recipe, we review it again; until it is approved again it is not publicly visible. We do not review other changes in advance — for example to ingredients, amounts or the text of the steps.
• Changes during review: If you change one of these elements while the recipe is still in review, the review starts over: the recipe counts as newly submitted, and the automatic pre-check runs again.

6. What happens after a violation

We act in graduated steps and choose the mildest suitable measure:

We notify you of every measure and state the reason, the content concerned, the legal basis or rule breached, whether automated means were involved, and how you can challenge it. You may challenge any measure within six months — at support@yedeni.com or through the complaints function in the app. The procedure is described under Copyright and reporting illegal content.

7. Reporting something

Every recipe, review and profile has a report function. Report copyright infringements and illegal content through the formal procedure at Copyright and reporting illegal content or to support@yedeni.com. Reports concerning your own safety take priority and are handled first.

8. Partner content

Some recipes in Yedeni come from partners who expressly permitted us to use their content. We post this content ourselves, even where it appears under an account bearing the partner's name; we are responsible for it as for our own content (§ 8(7) of the Terms). If you are a rights holder and want to withdraw such permission, an informal message is enough — we then remove the content promptly.

8a. Verified accounts

Only our team sets the “verified” badge next to a username, by hand. It means: we have satisfied ourselves that the account belongs to the person, brand or organisation whose name it bears, or that we operate it in cooperation with them. The badge is not an assessment of the content and not a recommendation by Yedeni. Accounts with the badge publish recipes without prior review, except a recipe we have not approved (no. 5.2); their content is subject to the same rules as everyone else's. If the attribution no longer holds, we remove it; we also remove it at the account holder's request.

9. Changes

We may adapt these terms when new features arrive or the legal situation changes. We announce material changes in the app at least 30 days in advance.
